The authors see the problem of conflict and aggression of adolescents in a society that has formed a system of raising children, the requirements for them, the attitude of adults towards adolescents that does not consider the peculiarities of their personal development, leading to conflict and aggressive behavior. The article shows that the intensive development of self-awareness and critical thinking leads to the fact that a child in adolescence finds contradictions not only in the world around him, but also within his own self-image, which is the basis for changing emotional and value attitudes towards himself, manifesting itself in a sharp a surge of dissatisfaction with oneself and a combination of such polar qualities as, for example, self-confidence and timidity, callousness and hypersensitivity, detachment and shyness.
