CASE-METHOD AS A FACTOR OF IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCY OF THE PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION OF THE BODIES WITHIN THE STATE PENITENTIARY SERVICE OF UKRAINE

Summary:

The article substantiates the necessity of case study application in the educational process of practical classes in a higher education institution with specific conditions of learning in order to increase the effectiveness of training the specialists for the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine. The analysis of recent researches and publications devoted to the description of the case method as a multidimensional method of higher education students training has been carried out, as well as the historical and pedagogical analysis of the stages of the case method introduction in world practice has been done.

The competencies that can be formed with the help of this training method are revealed and considered. The types of cases that can be used during practical classes in the disciplines of the psychological and pedagogical cycle are determined. The sequence of realization of the case method elements  in practice is briefly considered.

Requirements for the compilation of cases have been established and analyzed. The methodologically grounded conditions and possibilities of case method application during the studying of psychological and pedagogical disciplines in practical classes with Academy students are considered.

The world experience of the case – method application is analyzed, it is established that at present two classical schools coexist – Harvard (American), when the purpose of this method is to teach the search for the only correct solution, and Manchester (European), which assumes the multivariance of the solution of a certain problem.

In the article the author considers the features of the use of American cases, which are larger in volume.
