The aim of the article is to analyze projects and websites in learning English. This aim provides for solving the following tasks of research: to find out the goals and advantages in learning English while using projects and websites for self-education.
Methodology: Achieving the goal and solving the tasks have been enhanced by using such methods of research as analysis and comparison of pedagogical and methodical scientific sources to define the problems of learning English in the conditions of sustainable development; synthesis, generalization and systematization of the material dealing with the projects concerning education and learning English; analysis of projects and websites for self-education.
Scientific novelty. In the article the authors for the first time analyze the projects and websites concerning self-education and suggest in the conditions of sustainable development using websites for self-education and mastering English as a foreign language.
Research results show that such projects, platforms, websites programmes as British Council, Dave’s ESL Cafe, Cambridge English, TED Talks, Speaky, MeetUp, FluentU and SHAPE Education make it possible to learn English at the proper level. English learning websites such as British Council, Dave’s ESL Cafe, Cambridge English, TED Talks, Speaky, MeetUp, FluentU and SHAPE Education contribute to the development of creation and cooperation, learning other cultures, getting knowledge, skills, abilities in the English language, etc.
Practical implications. It is pointed out that the main goal of learning communication in English using English learning websites is to form English communicative competence, first of all, the ability to speak English at the proper level of the professional foreign communication, to study and get the knowledge of different fields of science, to work in the international context, to respect multi-cultures, to be able to communicate in English, to know behavior norms and rules of the professional community. Educational goals are directed at raising a person’s education level in different fields of science. Educative goals reflect the common humanistic focus of self-education. The participants have an opportunity to take part in the discussions of the issues connected with getting education, and study English.
Value (originality). The value of the study is characterized by the presentation of a new vision of using above-mentioned learning websites in self-education and learning communication in English.
